Our Mission
East Rock Films seeks to inform and inspire our viewers by bringing to life renowned writers, artists, their works, and their times. Our hope is to immerse the audience into great works of literature or art, creating a spark to read more. We aim to deepen their appreciation of our literary and artistic heritage --and its enduring value. Our films are in school and college curricula throughout North America. They have aired over 75 PBS television stations and have been enjoyed by millions of people.
As part of our mission to further engage audiences, we offer film talks and film screenings at various clubs, libraries, lifelong learning centers, conferences, festivals, and other events. Our audiences range from students to seniors. To assist educators in the classroom, we provide discussion guides and engagement activities, to help students better connect with the material.
We also run a student essay contest that grants scholarships to high school seniors who plan to study the arts, humanities, or social sciences in college.
